Starting high school is such a big thing. One minute they’re walking into middle school and before you know it, they’re stepping out. Freshman year changes kids in ways you don’t even realize until you look back.
Freshman photos freeze this exact moment in time, who they are before high school really begins to shape them. Their style, the outfits they choose, the way they wear their hair, the confidence (or lack of) they carry, the little quirks in their smile… all of it tells a story. Years later, when they stand in front of my camera again for their senior session, those images become something so much bigger than “just pictures.” They become a comparison of growth, personality, confidence and self-discovery.
The freshman who showed up a little shy may become the senior who walks into their session completely comfortable in who they are. Their style changes. Their interests change. Their confidence grows. And seeing those differences is honestly really cool.
Freshman photos aren’t only about looking back someday, they're about right now too.
Starting high school can feel overwhelming. Maybe it's a new building, there are older kids, expectations are bigger, sports are more competitive, activities are happening all of the time, friend groups can change, and your kiddo is trying to figure out where they fit in. Let's be honest, it’s a lot. A photo session gives kids a chance to slow down for a minute and see themselves differently. To feel seen. To realize they are worthy exactly as they are stepping into this new season of life.
Sometimes hearing, “You look amazing,” or seeing themselves in a beautiful image is all they need to carry a little extra confidence into those first days of high school.
And honestly? Every kid deserves that feeling.
